Garmin E trex H Handheld GPS

Despite the latest changes in the economy, user spending on individual electronic devices is now at an all time high. Part of the answer for this is that small electric gadgets are getting to be easier to buy. What was once thought of as extravagant has now turned into the won't-live-without-it thing to posess.
Garmin E trex H Handheld GPS
If you need an easy to use, basic but accurate handheld GPS unit, then this Garmin handheld is for you. It is perfect for geocaches, and for those who want a simple walk in the forest or hills, unworried about how to get back to their starting point. It is small, easy to use, and as you’d expect, rugged, waterproof and easily held in your hand.
Straight away the machine has no problem in locating its signal sources (satellites) and after a few minutes you are ready to ramble. It is a high sensitivity GPS receiver and when taking it on a test, I had no problems getting a reading on my position at any time and for a model at this price point, its accuracy is excellent. What makes it so highly sensitive is a little beyond me, but I know that it works.

This model replaces the older unit. I mention this because they are almost identical in appearance so be aware to this when buying second hand or returned stock.
As for the unit itself, I found the Garmin extremely easy to use. The screen is backlit which makes it easy to read even in extreme lighting conditions. The interface is really intuitive, and for even the beginner walker, it will not take long to get used to once you have had a quick read of the manual (if you really are new to GPS).
The machine can be totally operated by one hand manipulating all five buttons, which is handy if you are trekking, or in the wild (it is waterproof to).
I’ve used this in the city, when on holiday and visiting friends, and on both occasions I could easily lay down a way marker and the Garmin GPS easily led me from my location home or to my hotel or my friend’s home across the city. The unit stores 500 waypoints in the memory, and there is also the backtrack function, which is guaranteed to get you home. Great stuff and no complications caused by buildings.
No chance either of battery’s being an issue. First of all, it takes 2 AA’s so carrying spares is no problem, and second, you get up to seventeen hours of use. The power goes toward powering a 12 parallel channel GPS receiver, and power well spent it is too. The interface is easy to read, and the map, while extremely basic and small, is well suited to the machine.
I have to say the Garmin E trex H Handheld GPS is a super machine and really well designed. A super design and ease of use make this great value for the first time and more experienced user alike.
